Founded in 1951 by Erwin Bernheim in Solothurn, Switzerland, Mondaine holds a revered position in Swiss industrial design and horological history. In 1986, the brand secured the official license from the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB - Schweizerische Bundesbahnen) to translate the iconic 1944 station clock, designed by Swiss engineer Hans Hilfiker, into wristwatch form.
